When should I apply?
Apply as soon as you can. There is a cutoff to the amount of interns that we can allow into all of our internships, and applicants will be accepted on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis. The cut-off date for receiving applications is two-weeks prior to the internship start date.
Am I guaranteed a place in the internship when I apply?
No one is guaranteed a place within our internships. Once applications are received by IHOP-NW staff, a secondary and more thorough application is sent to each applicant, with admission into the internship pending this final application. Please only make plans to come to the internship once you have been accepted into the program.
Is housing available through the internship?
Housing is not provided within the costs of the Forerunner Internship. However, in the past our IHOP-NW family and community has provided housing for interns for the duration of our internships. If you will need housing during the internship, please contact IHOP-NW staff ASAP after your acceptance into the internship.
Note: Though we have been very blessed by our community of believers at IHOP-NW to open their homes to interns in the past, we do not guarantee housing at any time until we have a firm commitment and confirmation from a family in our community. Also, if interns do find a host-family to stay with, all costs and matters of living logistics are decided upon by the host family.
Can I hold a job during the internship?
Forerunner interns are not allowed to hold a job during the duration of the internship. The Forerunner Internship’s schedule is intended to be a 40+ hour a week commitment. We encourage all interns to treat the internship as if it were a full-time job, while stewarding their attendance in the most dedicated way possible.
Do interns get breaks over holidays?
The Forerunner Internship does give a Thanksgiving Day break to Fall-Track interns, and also an Easter Break to Spring-Track interns. Due to the shorter duration of the Summer-Track, interns do not receive a scheduled break over the Summer season. Throughout all internships, Wednesdays and Saturdays are scheduled as “days-off”, with the exception to planned outreaches and activities during those days.
Can I apply for a staff position at IHOP-NW once I complete the internship?
Yes. Any interns who complete a full season of an internship will be allowed to apply for a position on staff at IHOP-NW.
